Rural guesthouse Posada El Diamante is a retreat for both human visitors and animal visitors. Located just outside the village of San Luis de Palenque, an area of pristine beauty, and about two and a half hours from Yopal it is the ideal base for a couple of days to discover the Llanos' wildlife, culture and sceneries on excursions into the surroundings. Wildlife frequents the property's pastures, orchards, gardens, forest and river beach and makes it a haven for nature lovers and birdwatchers looking for peace and tranquility - and the most amazing starlit sky at night!
Overlooking green pastures, orchards, forests and plantations, Posada El Diamante just a few minutes outside of the village of San Luis de Palenque, is a paradisiacal retreat for both human visitors and animal visitors. Rio Pauto peacefully frames the property to one side enabling boat trips in wet season from May to September and revealing beautiful beaches and banks in dry season from November to March. Giant anteaters frequent the property, agoutis jump about in the forest, howlers do justice to their name in the mornings, tortoises cross the gardens, deer may be discovered grazing and caimans, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, iguanas, horned screamers, herons, caracaras and even the occasional anaconda complete the list of wildlife we have discovered here.
Marvelous host Zulmelida Leal, "Zulma", personally looks after her guests' wellbeing and treats them to home-cooked food, self produced cheese, chocolate and honey! Posada El Diamante has some cows, plenty of cultivations, beehives, a couple of horses and chicken and produces plenty of its own food. Visibly another hobby of Zulma is gardening. Tropical flowers are flourishing in all shapes and colours, embellishing the posada, itself a modern and uncomplicated house of red bricks and generous windows to contemplate the green surroundings.
4 rooms, 3 with private bathrooms, all with air-conditioning cater for up to 7 guests. Plenty of space for hammocks along the spacious corridors allows to host even more visitors.

Visit one of Casanare's stunning hatos and embark on a classic wildlife safari by tractor, on horse rides and walks to observe some of Colombia's most pristine wildlife: capybaras, white-tailed deer, jabiru storks, armadillos, giant anteaters, crab-eating foxes, southern tamandua and - if lucky - a feline such as an ocelot or puma.
