On this hike we climb up the Andean foothills via a steep tropical forest climb. Upon reaching Doña Maritza’s finca we enjoy a fresh brew of tinto with fantastic views across the valley. Coffee and banana plantations and native woodlands traverse the small finca. Doña Maritza proudly maintains her coffee business organic and small-scale.
This tour sees us climbing to the peak of Yopal via a tropical forest trek. From the summit "Cerro el Venado" we’ll have views of both the infinite Llanos plains to the east and of the Eastern Andes range to the west. The circuit finishes at a natural swimming pool with a waterfall – a well-deserved refreshment!
This birding tour is the mountainous counterpart to our Llanos birding tour. Exploring the scenic and tropical Andean foothills on a number of light hikes and walks we discover birds from both ecosystems, Llanos and Andes: Various jacamars, capped herons, sunbittern, puffbirds, woodpeckers, toucans, chachalacas, hawks, kites, parrots, parakeets, thrushs and various tanagers.
This hike takes an ancient route that the farmers take to get from the Andean highlands to the Llanos lowlands. The pristine views across the valley, the lush tropical forest, its many waterfalls and creeks make this hike one of our most popular routes. So does the natural Jacuzzi that we’ll discover tucked away in a waterfall – pack your swimmers!
