The term "Colombian Safari" was first coined at Hato La Aurora, Colombia's biggest privately owned natural reserve and Casanare's pioneering tourism project. Juan Solito lodge caters for visitors on-site and willy jeeps and horses ensure one gets even to the remotest corners inside this 18,000 hectare reserve and catches a glimpse of some seriously stunning and impressive wildlife including anacondas, capybaras, scarlet ibises, deer, wild boars, ocelots and many more - a true adventure and a good one if planned right. Here are 5 reasons why it can be beneficial to book a trip though us rather than venture out on your own or wondering how to get to La Aurora.
1. Responsiveness
Shoot us an e-mail to info@aventurecotours.com or a WhatsApp message to 0057 320 480 1464 and you will get a response within 24 hours if not much sooner with all the required info - in English!
2. Competence
We know the reserve inside out and throughout the seasons, we know the staff, the wildlife, the territory, the culture, the bedrooms, the food, the vehicles, the horses, the bird species, the best spots and times to see animals... you name it! We travel to the Aurora reserve on average 4 times a year and can tell you first-hand what to expect - and we tell it as it is!
3. Security
At least throughout the dry months we will book your transport with our trusted transport company partner in Yopal. Modern, high standard 4x4 vehicles and skilled drivers will take you on the up to 5 hour long drive to the reserve, off road and all - no worries, no crazy driving. Dry months are mid October to mid April. (From May to September we will have to rely on the La Aurora transport and drivers as the trip gets too muddy and occasionally part of the trip must be operated by boat, as the savannas will be flooded.)
4. Personal English Contact
We will respond in English and your conversation with us will be handled in English throughout - no misunderstandings or awkward radio silence. While at the reserve we will check in on you and you will be able to call us and report any issues, too. We are your English speaking point of contact throughout your trip!
If you like, you can even book one of us as your bilingual guide to accompany you on the "Colombian Safari" to La Aurora. We take great pride in our region and will provide you with a wealth of knowledge of the local fauna and culture, helping those gain insights into the region who cannot communicate with the local guides and ensuring all works out just perfectly - from food to activities.

5. That little bit extra...
Prior to your trip we will ask you a few questions that can make all the difference - from food preferences to your interests. We then communicate your answers to the staff at the reserve to ensure your requirements and expectations are met - no "ifs" and "buts".
